Blood Elf Cosplay - BlizzCon 2008

Blood Elf Cosplay - BlizzCon 2008

We have a bunch more information Blizzard has released at BlizzCon 2008 for WotLK. There are major interface changes coming, along with very new and interesting concepts for PvE and PvP.

Here is a recap of some of the biggest WoW information since our last BlizzCon WotLK update:

  • Ground mounts will no longer automatically dismount when you enter the water after patch 3.1. They will now be able to swim!
  • 10-man and 25-man raid sets will share the same set bonuses, so you will be able to complete your sets with pieces of both combined.
  • 3.1, the first content patch for WotLK, is already complete and ready for release.
  • As previously mentioned, the dual-spec feature coming in WotLK will allow you to switch specs between fights in a raid. This feature will be great for switching between a party and solo spec while leveling in WotLK.

There was also some new information and ideas for PvP in WotLK:

  • Blizzard plans on adding an experience reward for battlegrounds, allowing you to level by doing just battlegrounds. Will this remove twinking? So far there is no official word.
  • There is a new Battleground rating system in development to hopefully make battlegrounds more competitive and fairly matched again.
  • You will soon be able to queue for Arenas and Battlegrounds from anywhere in the game world (sounds similar to Warhammer’s system).
  • The new WotLK instanced battleground, Strand of the Ancients, is getting updated from a 10 versus 10 to 15 versus 15. Additionally, they are doubling the number of siege weapons and vehicles available for players to use.

J!nx, the official WoW merchandise partner, is releasing a new murloc plushie.

BlizzCon was this week, and Blizzard has release a little bit of new information about what we can expect to see after the release of WotLK. The highlights include:

  • 3.1 WotLK patch will add Ulduar, a 10 and 25 man, level 80 raid instance.
  • 3.2 patch will add a secret, unannounced raid instance.
  • 3.3 will likely add the Icecrown Citadel raid instance, Arthas’ new home.
  • 3.3 will also conclude the Ashbringer storyline.
  • Duel-spec system is definitely coming. This will allow you to change between two specs even between fights in a raid. You will not be allowed to change specs during arena matches, however.
  • After adding the duel-spec interface, Blizzard would also like to add an ItemRack-like mod to the default WotLK interface.
  • Blizzard plans on adding a dance studio, which not only will allow characters to choose new dances, but build their own.
  • Improve the guild management and organization tools.
  • Possibly implement guild rankings based on PvE progress (similar to WoWjutsu?)

Looks like we have a lot to look forward to after the release of WotLK.
